Coffee Exporters Happy
Celebration and congratulations !! Indonesian exporters of coffee can now export coffee easier and faster. It’s due to the newly released Regulation of Minister Of Trade Of The Republic Of Indonesia Number 10/M-Dag/Per/5/2011 On The Export of Coffee which come into force since May 3, 2011. The regulation is the Amendment to Regulation Of The Minister Of Trade Number 41/M-Dag/Per/9/2009 On The Export Of Coffee. Question: Why Indonesian exporters of coffee can now export coffee easier and faster? Aswer: There are at least four reasons:
- Easier reporting mechanism of realization of export coffee to the government. In the new regulation, the exporter simply report the realization of the export of coffee online. In the old regulation the exporter have to send a report to the office of the Ministry of Commerce.
- Exporters no longer need to attach proof of payment of dues paid up member of the Association of Indonesian Coffee Exporters (AEKI) to obtain export licenses. In the old rules, new export permits can be obtained if the exporter attach proof of deposit to the AEKI dues amounting to Rp 30 per kilogram (kg). The more volume of exports, the greater the value of the deposit to the AEKI.
- In the new regulation, also non-member of AEKI can export coffee. In the old regulation, an exporter must be member of AEKI.
- In the new regulation, definition of types of coffee based on weight of green bean is no more available. In the old regulation, the strictly definition of Roasted Coffee, Decaffeinated Coffee, Soluble Coffee and Liquid Coffee based on weight of green bean was written in the attachment III.
