Data of Coffee of North Sumatra Province of Indonesia
Data of coffee production, FOB, planting area and productivity of North Sumatra Province of Indonesia are as followings.
- North Sumatera produced 58,965 ton of coffee bean in year 2005, and 63,269 (2006), 71,444 (2007), 62,888 (2008), and 67,318 (2009) due to BPS of North Sumatra (North Sumatra In Figure, 2010). I estimate the production was in amount of 60,126 tons for year 2010.
- FOB Value was US$ 164,129,000 (2005), 176,500,000 (2006), 216,664,000 (2007), 211,007,000 (2008) and 203,646,000 (2009). I estimate the FOB value was US$ 193,000,000 due to decrease production amids the increase price.
- By excluding the production of the big coffee estates, production of coffee smallholders estates were: (a) Total production of arabica coffee bean in North Sumatera Province were 41,790 (2005), 38,524 (2006), 42,223 (2007), 39,268 (2008), and 45,483 (2009), and (b) Total production of robusta coffee bean in North Sumatera Province was 13,227 (2005), 10,927 (2006), 8,593 (2007), 8,580 (2008) and 8,239`(2009).
- By excluding the big coffee estates, planting area of coffee smallholders estates were: (a) Arabica coffee : 50,310 (2006), 53,869 (2007), 52,702 (2008) and 57,142 (2010); (b) robusta coffee: 28,652 (2006), 25,111 (2007), 23,080 (2008), and 22,403 (2009).
- By excluding the big coffee estates, productivity of coffee smallholders estates were: (a) Arabica coffee : 1.12 (2006), 1.21 (2007), 1.13 (2008), and 1.15 (2009) ton/ha/year; and (b) robusta coffee: 0.68 (2006), 0.62 (2007), 0.67 (2008), and 0.65 (2009) ton/ha/year.
